While you shouldn’t have the expectation that paid surveys will be a primary source of income, it may turn out to be a good secondary source of revenue that doesn’t require much thought, just some time.  You can use surveys to generate some quick cash.  It is not an ‘online business model’, but can help out on occasion.

When I was starting out, I didn’t have a lot of excess income to devote to my online business, and signed up with a few paid survey sites to make some money.  I then was able to use that cash to start funding my internet marketing efforts, and the results paid off rather well.  So if you’re just starting out, it may help you to get a foot in the door of making real money online also.

When I examine paid survey programs, I’m looking for the following:

1. They have current, updated links to all companies and offers
2. The site is well organized, and is easy to navigate and get around
3. They offer step-by-step instructions on how to get started

Of the ones I’ve reviewed, here are some good companies that meet my criteria for quality:

#1) Paid Surveys Etc. (Top Pick)

Paid Surveys Etc. is now one of the best paid survey programs online.  They have been in business for several years, and owe their success to several factors which combine to make them the #1 selling paid survey site (at the time of this writing).  These are:

• Paid Surveys Etc. allows users to take surveys from name brand companies such as Procter & Gamble, eBay, Wal-Mart and Nike.  Participating in surveys from well established companies is a major plus.
• Members of Paid Surveys Etc. have the ability to make money apart from taking surveys with user bonuses.  So if you want to take a break from surveys, there are other ways to make money that are simple and fun.

#2) Survey Scout (Recommended)

Survey Scout offers some of the largest and most current survey lists available.  The survey sites are well organized, and give you details on what type of survey is involved (interview, focus group, online/browser, etc.) They also detail the payment structure (cash or prizes in most cases). So if you’re looking for surveys that only pay cash, you can find them easily.

They’ve also recently added a system for work at home jobs such as the ones available through Paid Surveys Etc. This should give you some variety in your ability to make money with surveys alone. They also give you the Robo-Form auto-fill software for free, which simplifies doing some of the repetitive form-filling for questions you will run across.

If there is room for improvement, it would be to have better system for user feedback and ratings.  I’ve found the best way to make paid surveys work for you is to sign up with as many as possible, regardless of the rating you see. With a site like Survey Scout, you can start making money through paid surveys almost instantly. Definitely Recommended.

#3) Paid Surveys Online (Approved)

Paid Surveys Online is one of the oldest paid survey sites online, having been in business since 2002.  As such, they are well established and reputable, with a good roster of companies and survey lists available for you to take.

While the site may not be as ‘pretty’ as some, it makes up for it be delivering the goods – in other words, a large list of surveys and a few ‘get paid to’ programs (drive, read e-mails, give out samples, etc.) so that you can make money from home.

If you’re looking to get started taking surveys for cash, Paid Surveys Online is a fine choice, and a decent alternative to the others.

Before You Start

When you’re looking to join any survey site, I recommend you take a realistic view before starting. If you’re trying to make six figures in a month from taking paid surveys, you will be disappointed.  Don’t have the mindset that paid surveys will solve all your income needs.  They can provide some quick cash, but don’t quit your job and start doing this full time expecting to replace your old income.

There are many people that enjoy the process of taking surveys, and earn money while doing so.  You may find you are interested in it – and perhaps not.  Every company above has a money back guarantee available with the program (which is also one of the reasons why they’re on my list), so you can try them out to see if making money with surveys is something you want to do.  So if it doesn’t work out, simply ask for a refund – no questions asked.

While this can generate some money, it is not my personal preference for making money on the internet.  For that, I recommend you pursue affiliate marketing.  While it requires some thought, it takes no more time than that required to fill out surveys.  Affiliate marketing is  where I started, and I recommend Wealthy Affiliate if you want to learn how to make a recurring income online.

The Rich Jerk was one of the first programs I bought that taught me methods to make money online that actually worked.  I owe a fair amount of my success to the concepts and ideas therein.  While I still rate it highly, the information in the book isn’t updated as often as it could be. Fortunately, many of the concepts are timeless, and work just as well today as when they were first written.

While the e-book is still decent, my recommendation these days is based to no small degree on the quality of the Rich Jerk forums.  If anything, it is the forums that helped me develop the methods discussed in the book into full fledged revenue producing businesses.  Many six and seven figure a year internet entrepreneurs are members, and contribute to the forums regularly. I still return to the forums on a regular basis to learn what people are doing, what works, and what doesn’t.

And with the book now under $10 (purchasing it grants you access to the private forums), it’s probably the cheapest source of good affiliate marketing information on the internet. This helped to get me started (along with Wealthy Affiliate), and is why I still recommend it to others wanting to do the same.

Programs You Should Avoid

One of the issues with products teaching affiliate marketing is that a few folks will simply copy other products, change the wording a bit, and call it their own – without giving you any real information that is original. If you’re brand new to internet marketing, then a few of these products may indeed teach you some of the basics – but, there are other programs out there that do a better and more complete job (such as some of the ones I recommend above).  And without a reference point, you probably won’t know the difference – and may think they’re actually pretty good, if it’s your first introduction to the concepts.

One of these copycats is named Ewen Chia.  I’ve reviewed some of his products in the past, and have even picked up some good tips from some of them.  However, for the past couple of years, he seems to have been resting on his laurels, and his recent products have been mostly rehashed content from earlier ones.  Fortunately for us, he brands all his products with his name, so they’re easy to spot.

What Ewen is really good at nowadays is writing (or paying someone to write) the sales copy on his product sites.  After reading one of his sales letters, you’ll probably want to buy.  Yes, they’ve got great sales copy.  As for the actual product quality – not so much.  So if you see his name out there on something, do yourself a favor and save your money for something else.

While the material is great, it can be a bit confusing for some people due to information overload.

The best way to use this course effectively (and my suggestion to you) is to 1) Read through the materials; 2) Decide on which business model you want to pursue initially; and 3) Make a commitment to learn and implement the methods in that model, instead of trying to do everything at once.  That way, your efforts are focused on getting effective results first, and from there use that initial success to branch out into other methods of generating income.

Since you’re building a business, know that results may not come overnight, but will come over time, provided you do the work.  If you are consistent, you will reach your goals incrementally, and eventually be able to earn a living online with internet marketing.

4-Day Money Making Blueprint: The Details

The Good

The course takes you through the process of creating a successful article marketing campaign from beginning to end, leaving nothing out.  If you ever had a question about ‘what is my next step?’ after watching other courses, you won’t have to worry about that here.  David’s series is excellent, takes you through his entire thought process, and includes over 15 hours of video in addition to the e-book.  He has a laser targeted focus on doing one thing, and doing it well – which is teaching you exactly how to do article marketing.  Instead of being an ‘I’ll teach you all the concepts about every possible type of affiliate marketing, but not give you any details about specific subjects’ (which a few other popular courses have done), David has created a fantastic course on teaching just one subject.

And, he delivers on that promise.  I’ve been doing article marketing for a few years now, and even I picked up some good tips and practices from his course – ones that I’m already putting to good use.

There is also a members area/forum where people can post questions and answers about various topics related to article marketing and affiliate marketing in general.  And yes, David is active on his own forums!  From looking at some of the contributors, I definitely recognize some who are also active over at the Wealthy Affiliate forums (David is a member of WA also, and originally met Travis over there.  Come to think of it, the 4DMMB and Wealthy Affiliate make a good combination together…)

David is also posting additional content and video updates periodically, which you have lifetime access to when you buy the program.

What Could Be Improved

Honestly, there isn’t all that much I can think of.  I will say his e-book is written more like a novel than your typical, rather dry manual that accompanies most programs.  While it’s written like a story, the e-book does do a great job of explaining what he’s doing, as well as why, within the narration.  I found the style refreshing, as many courses I’ve read have almost put me to sleep because they were boring and antiseptic.  Whether you like that style or not depends on you.

While you can get inexpensive items to sell from Doba, they also have many name brand products in their database.  When you can drop ship well known products, this is a boon for any drop ship business.  They are the only source that lets its members drop ship single quantities of products like the iPod (normally, you need to be a reseller with Apple, maintain lots of inventory, and contribute six figures a year in sales for those products).

With a service like Worldwide Brands or Salehoo, you are contacting each individual supplier directly.  Many of them require you to have a reseller license before they will do business with you. While that is not difficult to get, it is an extra step, and some people don’t want to do the additional work.  Doba requires no such license, as you purchase from Doba directly for all products in their network.

If you want to be successful with Doba, it takes a bit of proper research.  Don’t expect to be able to re-list everything in Doba onto eBay and make a profit.   You need to research your niche, find profitable items, and do your due diligence.  That said, once you do find those items, making additional sales becomes very simple.

One thing Doba lacks is the ability to always compete with prices on eBay. Just know that some people do buy in bulk, and are able to sell those items at lower prices.  And if they source products from overseas or sell cheap copies of name brands, they can probably afford to sell them for less.

So while Doba has a low price guarantee, they can’t always be competitive with some of the very large players.  But if you can find an item that sells well on Doba, that is the perfect opportunity to look at buying those items in bulk elsewhere and increase your profits.
