Doba is a drop shipping company that is growing by leaps and bounds. They work to provide wholesale prices, are easy to use, and simplify the drop ship process by being an all-in-one provider.
While some of their prices have been higher than others in the past, they have been working diligently to provide wholesale prices, name brands, and excellent tools and training. So, should you use Doba as a supplier?
Doba works a little differently than other drop shipping and wholesale companies such as Salehoo or Worldwide Brands. I’ll give you the details on these differences below.
Doba Review: How They Work
Doba’s service is unique among wholesale sourcing. They have everything available through their portal, which makes the process very easy. Rather than you having to contact the supplier yourself, Doba allows you to buy wholesale items from Doba directly, and ship them on to your customer. Doba becomes your one stop source for research, product sourcing and order fulfillment, allowing you to focus on other areas of your business. This is an easier solution then any other drop shipping source, and they allow direct syncing with eBay for items sold.
Whether or not this meets your needs depends on you. If you want a comprehensive list of suppliers in one directory, then Doba is probably not your best bet. If you want to do everything yourself – market research, product sourcing and order fulfillment – then Doba’s service may be unnecessary. However, if you want to simplify the process, then I recommend that you try them out for yourself by signing up for their 7-Day FREE Trial. That is the quickest way to give you a better idea of the value of their service, risk-free.
Doba: The Pricing
Doba provides a lowest price guarantee among internet drop shippers. If you can find a better price somewhere else, they will give you two months of free access to Doba. Not many others will promise that.
However, this doesn’t always mean you will make large profits. With Doba, you are drop shipping single quantities, not bulk ones. While this makes your job extremely easy, the prices won’t be quite as good as if you were buying them in bulk quantities. So even with a lowest price guarantee, people who are buying in large quantities are going to be able to get better prices overall.
If you’re looking for a program that allows you to buy in bulk, see my Drop Shipping and Wholesale Directory Reviews for more.
Doba: The Products
While you can get inexpensive items to sell from Doba, they also have many name brand products in their database. When you can drop ship well known products, this is a boon for any drop ship business. They are the only source that lets its members drop ship single quantities of products like the iPod (normally, you need to be a reseller with Apple, maintain lots of inventory, and contribute six figures a year in sales for those products).
With a service like Worldwide Brands or Salehoo, you are contacting each individual supplier directly. Many of them require you to have a reseller license before they will do business with you. While that is not difficult to get, it is an extra step, and some people don’t want to do the additional work. Doba requires no such license, as you purchase from Doba directly for all products in their network.
Doba can negotiate single unit prices of these items because of their relationship with wholesale suppliers. Some of these items are impossible to source in such low quantities from other wholesalers. While bulk buying might be cheaper, Doba’s prices are still significantly cheaper than the Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price for those items.
Also, Doba provides access to products that are only available through their network. As such, it can be also a good additional source of products if you already have access to a directory such as Worldwide Brands.
Doba: The Education
In order to make money with drop shipping, it is important to learn how the industry works. Without the right education, it will be difficult to make money with Doba or any drop ship provider or service. Many people have the idea that you can just find all the products through a directory like Doba, list those products for sale on eBay, and make tons of profit. That is simply not true. You need to research your market, find the right products to service those customers, and price them properly.
Fortunately, Doba has excellent training resources you can use to get over the learning curve quickly. This includes e-books, webinars, product tips and suggestions, email instruction, market research, and video. To find out more about their training (and get a free education!), I recommend signing up for their 7-Day FREE Trial and start learning more about drop shipping today.
Doba: The Good
Doba has been around for several years and is a legitimate company with a good drop shipping business model. They have a best price guarantee for drop shipping. Their site is easy to navigate, and lets you locate, purchase, and list items for sale quickly.
One of their best features is the ability to publish an item directly to eBay for sale. So if you can find an item that sells well there, it’s easy to continue selling it on eBay without much work. By itself, this service is very valuable and simplifies the whole drop ship process.
Doba is by far the easiest drop ship service I have encountered. Their integration of suppliers, e-commerce, and eBay provide a service that makes this process dead simple. Even those new to the internet can learn how to start drop shipping today.
What Could Be Improved
If you want to be successful with Doba, it takes a bit of proper research. Don’t expect to be able to re-list everything in Doba onto eBay and make a profit. You need to research your niche, find profitable items, and do your due diligence. That said, once you do find those items, making additional sales becomes very simple.
One thing Doba lacks is the ability to always compete with prices on eBay. Just know that some people do buy in bulk, and are able to sell those items at lower prices. And if they source products from overseas or sell cheap copies of name brands, they can probably afford to sell them for less.
So while Doba has a low price guarantee, they can’t always be competitive with some of the very large players. But if you can find an item that sells well on Doba, that is the perfect opportunity to look at buying those items in bulk elsewhere and increase your profits.
Summary and Recommendation
Doba does offer good opportunities in drop shipping; however, this service is not for everyone. If you are reluctant to do appropriate research on products for your online business, then chances are you won’t make much money through Doba. So it can be difficult to say whether or not Doba is right for you.
The best way to do that is to try it out for yourself. I recommend you at least check out Doba’s 7-Day FREE Trial; this will give you a better idea of the value of the service, and is basically risk-free. When you do, take advantage of their training resources to learn more about how the process works, and whether that is something you want to pursue full time. The opportunities are definitely there, if you take the time to explore them.
Doba does things differently, and lets you drop ship single items of anything in their catalog, which makes this process much easier. But just because it’s all at your fingertips doesn’t mean there’s no work or research necessary on your part. And since they’re not a bulk shipper, sometimes it’s harder to compete with those that are.
A number of people use Doba to test out a market to determine whether it can be profitable, as you can quickly source items from them without going through the typical supplier process. If you can at least break even or better selling it using Doba, you can probably be even more profitable with that item by finding an appropriate supplier through Worldwide Brands (especially when bought in bulk) - and can scale the sales for your business accordingly.
And if an item is profitable to sell using Doba, you may just decide to stick with them for your product sourcing. It’s quick, easy, and about as painless as it gets.
Fortunately, their education and research materials are extensive, and will help you to learn how to make this profitable for your business.
